You Are Almost Definitely Low in B12 (Time Sensitive)

Any problems with Lupus means problems with digestion, any problems with digestion and you are not going to be absorbing key nutrients well, among them will be B12. Please read the following from Mike Adams at Natural News.

Dear NaturalNews readers,

I believe our modern world suffers from an epidemic of nutritional deficiencies, and one of the most common (and dangerous) is vitamin B-12 deficiency. A lack of vitamin B-12 can cause a long list of symptoms. Do you suffer from any of these?

• Low energy or weakness
• "Brain fog" or lack of focus
• Poor memory
• Light-headedness
• Pale skin
• Sore tongue
• Bleeding gums
• Mood changes or depression

Vitamin B-12 deficiency can also cause neural tube defects in pregnant women (http://www.naturalnews.com/026000_vitamin_B12_women_health.html), chronic coughing (http://www.naturalnews.com/027819_vitamin_B12_coughing.html), and it can actually appear to be Alzheimer's disease (http://www.naturalnews.com/027456_deficiency_vitamin_B12_disease.html).

This last point is crucial: Many people who are being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease right now may, in fact, only be lacking vitamin B-12.

RESEARCH EXPERT REVEALS VITAMIN B-12 HEALTH SECRETS:

My friend David Rainoshek is an amazing researcher who has spent years investigating the relationships between nutrients and optimum health. He studied under Dr. Gabriel Cousens and helped author a book on reversing diabetes. He's also the co-author of the "Juice Feasting" audio program that he and I put together several years ago which has helped thousands of people experience the benefits of daily juicing.

David is hosting a series of online webinars that reveal the most important information you need to know about vitamin B-12.

Reserve your spot by registering at:www.naturalnews.com/B12_webinar.html

In this webinar, you'll learn:

• The 3 ways to determine if you are B-12 deficient or not (most people have no idea).

• The Gold Standard for testing B-12 levels.

• 3 Little-known methods to properly raise your B-12 levels and keep them there.

• Which B-12 supplements are a complete waste of time (and money) and might actually harm your health.

• Why your doctor probably doesn't know anything about vitamin B-12.

• The most common symptoms of B-12 deficiency (including many you may not be aware of)

• Why vitamin B-12 deficiency is routinely misdiagnosed.

• Which type of vitamin B-12 you should AVOID (hint: it's the most common form, used in may "cheap" multivitamins).

This webinar gives you valuable information on why you may need vitamin B-12 and where to get a "human-active" form of vitamin B-12. It's extremely informative even if you already take vitamin B-12!

Watch David Rain's video trailer of this webinar at:www.naturalnews.com/B12_webinar.html

By the way, the place he's filming this is where I used to live in Ecuador! That's my garden in the background (the garden I started), and those kale plants are from seeds I brought from the USA.

As you know, I don't endorse a lot of webinars, and I'm very picky about who I trust and what they teach or promote. David Rain is someone whose knowledge I genuinely trust, and his research on the relationships between B-12 and optimum human health is superb.

In fact, I don't think you'll find a more knowledgeable teacher on this subject anywhere.

Don't miss this! Sign up to attend the online webinar right now at:www.naturalnews.com/B12_webinar.html

Time slots are available both today and tomorrow.

Corn Safe to Eat for those with Gluten Sensitivity?

Here is an article from the Gluten Free Society Blog. I really encourage you to join their mailing list. They are doing so much research in the field of gluten sensitivity and Celiac Disease, and educating doctors, patients and lay people as well.

I limit my own corn consumption and it is always organic, but this article makes me rethink corn. When I was in Rome Italy (a gift from my brother) I brought diet cards in Italian to give to the waiters and other food servers so they would know that I am gluten free, dairy free, and egg free,. The waiters would sometimes also ask is corn OK? They are ahead of us with that too. In Italy there is much higher rates of Celiac Disease and all children (in larger towns) are tested for Celiac Disease before they start kindergarten! In Italy they are much more aware of food sensitivities and health issues stemming from them. I actually found a food sensitivity blood test that you could order by yourself through local pharmacies. (called a "farmacia" in Italy)

If you are Italian, or Irish, or a combination thereof, it is worth testing for Celiac Disease or gluten intolerance as those populations have much greater Celiac Disease risk, especially if you have health problems as well!

Arsenic and Brown Rice?

"Scooter" my nutty kitty

There have been stories in the news about brown rice and brown rice products containing arsenic.

First, some doctors say brown rice has "gluten", albeit a different type...and you may heal faster without any gluten types at all. I try to limit brown rice and other grains in my diet these days...

Second when I went to macrobiotics cooking classes and learned about macrobiotic cooking, we were taught to THOROUGHLY rinse the rice before soaking/sprouting (just like you would soak beans overnight, you should also soak your grains) and then cooking. Many macrobiotic teachers would have elaboate rice washing techniques. Stir a certain direction, use your hand to stir/rinse the rice, and always rinse til the water runs clear....sounds like someone already knew about the arsenic and  any other contaminants as well.

Watch for processed food products that contain brown rice because you don't know if the companies rinse their rice before using, or if in cases like brown rice syrup if there was arsenic in the rice it would be naturally concentrated in the product as the syrup is cooked down.

Happy Valentine's Day and a Soothing Message...

Heart shaped pineapple and kiwi and pear with melted dark chocolate ganache.
I had been searching through lots of relationship books lately. As many of you know I have been having difficulties in my own marriage and I'm sure that the stress it causes is affecting my health...

I want to tell anyone that is having relationship issues, or just needs a fresh take, whether it is your husband, wife, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, cousin or friend, please check out this woman's book and blog. The links are below.

I love the message today in her blog. It screams to stop the commercialization of Valentine's Day and really give of yourself...go back to nature, go back to being old fashioned that is the way health and happiness are created and maintained. If you had no money you could still be happy. What is your gift for your significant other today? Can it be just you presence...instead of presents?

Google says it very well today as well...the boy tries to give the girl all kids of gifts, but what does she really want? A show that he cares that she likes jump roping and that he would take the time out to enjoy jump roping WITH her! We can all learn from this!

"The Lupus Recovery Diet" and Kinesiology

March 12, 2009 (A Repost)

More on how this blog came to be and how I came to trust holistic medicine. This repost was supposed to appear with the others on and around 1/23-24-25-26-27/2012 I apologize that this one wasn't grouped with the rest of the reposts.... from the beginning/start of this blog....

"The Lupus Recovery Diet" and Kinesiology

My next discovery was that many of the foods I tested weak for were excluded from "The Lupus Recovery Diet" book. OK, this was starting to make sense to me.... I continued to see the Chiropractor/Nutritionist/Kinesiologist(Dr. Christine Gizoni) and she explained to me that "Leaky Gut" or intestinal permeability is present in many diseases, especially autoimmune diseases. I needed to heal my "leaky gut".

Back to the library I went to get "The Lupus Recovery Diet" by Jill Harrington again! I studied again. This time it made sense and somehow do-able. So I eliminated all the foods I tested weak for at the doctor's office. I began to feel better, the doctor was RIGHT! I tested many more foods over many months and my present list of foods to avoid is this: Bananas, tomatoes, wheat, dairy, eggs, gluten, salt, sugar, shrimp(shellfish), beef, yeast, onions, all processed foods, peppers(not the hot chile variety),corn.

What do I eat?
Salmon(wild caught), tons of organic veggies and fruits, homemade oatmeal cookies, homemade chocolate peanut clusters, chicken and lamb(only occasionally), beans, brown rice, quinoa, brown rice pasta, almond "milk", nuts, seeds, tofu(occasionally), gluten free oatmeal, homemade brownie bottom "cheesecake", flax crackers, "raw" seed bread, and lots more!

Yes some days it is difficult,VERY difficult. I had to relearn to cook with different foods, I MISS some foods and cooking some foods immensely but my HEALTH is worth it!

In the next post I will tell you how I keep knowing I am on the RIGHT TRACK!

Can Going Gluten Free Rid You of Migraines? Most times Yes!

Please watch the following video. Many people are completely free from migraines after going on a gluten free diet. (*** my advice please get tested for Celiac Disease first - then whether you test positive or negative - do the gluten free diet and see if you feel any better- if you are a Celiac you must stay on the diet for life -  if not- it is your choice whether or not to continue the GF diet ***)
Also the best defense from migraines is to see if you have any other food allergies and avoid those foods as well!

Dry Cleaners and Scrapbooking?

Green Peppers, Red Peppers and Onions (cancer fighting!)

Found a scrapbooking store that holds classes in a store that was...get this!....previously a dry cleaner. Alarm bells went off in my head immediately. I would love to go to one of the store's scrapbooking classes, but no way am I going to spend hours in an old dry cleaners...and neither should anyone else, they are putting people's health at risk...there are many harmful and cancer causing chemicals lurking there. (please read the links below)

Please think out your healthiest options each day...what is the safest path to choose...your body will love you for it. And be able to heal faster. Thanks, I'll find a safer place to scrapbook!

Nook vs a Good Book

My local library has started a program to lend out Nooks to those library patrons who are interested. The Nook that I received was preloaded with best sellers and newspapers etc. You could not download anything more onto it (normally if you purchase a Nook you have your own choice of what you can download onto it.)

This was a great way to experience a Nook to see if your lifestyle would benefit from owning a Nook.
I borrowed it from the library for the alotted 2 week time limit. and I used it a total of 2 times, even my teenage children did not want to use it...they each tried the Nook one time and said "boring".

I feel that all these electonic devices are not good for your health. Read a good old-fashioned  book, novel or newspaper or magazine...although the smell of the real books even can knock you over at times...between the glues the inks, the bleached and treated paper...

Nooks and Kindles emit EMF's and WiFi. Therefore they're probably as bad for you as cell phones (see the articles below)

I believe the best thing for people's health is to go back to nature, old fashioned ways, live like you grandparents did, incorporate natural materials and items in your life, and remember to try earthing/grounding. (You don't have to buy anything, if you don't want...just take you shoes off and go walk on the beach or even in your own yard...I know many of you are in the middle of winter...but do it whenever you can!)

Skip the technology if at all possible...read teh article below for more info.

Check out This Food Pyramid!

This says it's a raw food pyramid...but these foods, raw and/or cooked, are a great way to eat! You can add small amounts of animal products too, if you desire, for your health. Always get blood tested for nutrient levels/hormone levels to make sure your body is getting adequate nutrition no matter what you choose to eat. If you are in a diseased state (Lupus) you are most likely deficient in many nutrients! The Metametrix Cardio Ion is great to check what nutrients you are missing.

Can Your Eyesight Get Better as You Age? YES!

I am happy to report that my eyesight has improved! When I had my eyes examined today I could see the entire eyechart with my left eye and the second to the bottom line with my right eye!  I just turned 49 this month.

I also passed my driver's license eye test...which previously I failed since was 25? (can't remember the exact age but I always had glasses on my driver's license)

Inflammation (food allergies)-or sugar, hydrogenated fats can cause vision disturbances anywhere in the body incuding your eyes.
Nutrition- more nutrients going into the body, by juicing veggies and fruits and eating for nutrition, for instance choosing to eat kale instead of a donut etc. can feed the eye and give it the necessary nutrients it need to rebuild and function properly.

Eye Specific Nutrients- http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/eyes/eye-protection-nutrition.htm

                                       http://products.mercola.com/eye-support/

Macular Degeneration- Many doctors say that this condition can be reversed if caught early (See December 2011 Sherry Rogers Total Wellness Newsletter for information on how)

***Also a quick note.... Why don't eye doctors say "what can we do to get your eyes healthier?  nutrients, healthier eating, supplements, eye exercises"...instead of saying "your eyes are not functioning well here's your diagnosis (incureable) and/or here are your glasses. Bye and see you next year!" Things that make me go GRRRR!***

Watch Walmart (and other stores too)Sweatshirts and other clothing materials....

An Inseam Tag (sewn inside need to turn garment inside-out to read)
Garment Information printed right onto the fabric
A Sewn in Tag appears in waist of jeans or neck of shirts
A "Hang Tag" Label

Although Walmart has surprised me in a nice way lately with organic cotton clothes that are reasonably priced, something has also upset me about the store in the last 6 months or so. When shopping for clothes, I almost always look for the material the clothes are made of. Lately, this information has to be searched out, almost as if they're trying to hide it....

Last year I found a really cute hunting hoodie sweatshirt, at Walmart, with a picture of a pointer on it and I bought it. I really love the fit, the comfort and how it washes etc.

This year when I went back to see if they had the same sweatshirt type, they did, but they were made of less cotton and more polyester. (at least they had an easy to see neck tag sewn in to check the fabric it was made of)

Many of the sweatshirts just say "even more softer feeling".... what they don't tell you is that they have even more polyester and less cotton to make the sweatshirt "feel softer". Why don't you want polyester? read the link below about bedsheets and how polyester is made, and what it is made of.

To make things worse they don't say what material they're made of on the "hang tag"(see above for a photo of a hang tag)...they don't have the material made of sewn on or printed on in ink by the neck of the garment (see above for photos)...to find out what the garment is made of you have to turn the entire sweatshirt inside out and look at the tag hidden in the inseam.(see photo above)

The moral of the story is if the company is proud of the garment and the fabric, they will label it in BOLD LETTERS everywhere!

I wrote a post on why you don't want polyester in bedsheets (or clothes either) read more here.
